Hello, there!
I’m Kansas McGraw—the designer, calligrapher, and illustrator on this side of the interwebs.
Yes my name is Kansas—just like the state! This is the way I often introduce myself while also adding that I am not a country singer. Because let's face it, Kansas paired with McGraw sounds like I'm about to give you the best Achy Break Heart rendition you've ever heard.
But I'm no country singer. I'm a creative with a passion for many things. I love graphic design and I'm a typenerd. I love calligraphy and lettering. I love drawing and watercolor paints. Surface pattern design and web design make my heart sing.
I've combined all of the creative things that I love and I have found a way to share that with those who enjoy it as well. I love working with clients to create beautiful brands that speak for themselves while also telling a story about the creator. I love creating stationery suites for weddings and being a small part of someone's big day. I love creating custom illustrations for clients to add to their home as it brings a smile to their face.
When I'm not creating, I'm spending quality time with my husband and 4 littles in Huntsville, AL.
Design is My Love Language
I love graphic design because it allows me to blend strategy and creativity to communicate clearly and beautifully. There’s something powerful about turning a blank space into a thoughtful layout that speaks directly to a viewer—whether it’s a logo, social media post, or magazine spread. Graphic design gives me a chance to solve visual problems, shape brand identities, and bring clarity to ideas that deserve to be seen. It’s the perfect balance between logic and imagination, and I find joy in every stage of the process—from brainstorming to the final export.
Surface pattern design and web design add even more depth to that creative passion. With surface patterns, I get to express playfulness and detail, turning simple sketches into repeat designs that live on products, packaging, or textiles. It’s incredibly fulfilling to create something tactile that brings joy to daily life. Web design, on the other hand, challenges me to think about flow, interaction, and the user’s experience—how visuals, text, and movement guide people through a brand’s story. Together, these creative disciplines let me craft meaningful, engaging, and beautiful visuals that connect with people in both digital and physical spaces.
